Concrete and gunite pools
Concrete pools are formed on site with steel and sprayed or poured concrete. They offer nearly unlimited shape, depth and features, including infinity edges, benches and integrated spas.
They take longer to build and the surface needs periodic resurfacing, and they suit custom designs best.
Fiberglass pools
Fiberglass pools arrive as a single shell and are set in an excavation. The surface is smooth, non-porous and easy to keep clean, and installation is usually faster.
Shapes are limited to available molds and delivery size, though many are elegant.
Vinyl-lined pools
Vinyl pools use a flexible liner over a frame. They cost less to start and the surface is smooth, and the liner needs replacement over time.
They are less common in luxury projects, because features and edges are limited.
Comparing the look
Concrete gives the most freedom for architecture, tile, stone and features. Fiberglass can look polished with good coping and decks. Vinyl is simpler in appearance.
Think about the finish you want and how it fits the house.
Comparing care
Concrete finishes need balanced water and eventual resurfacing. Fiberglass resists algae and needs less brushing. Vinyl liners need careful chemistry and eventual replacement.
Care depends as much on routine as on type.
Choosing for your yard
Your lot, your style, your schedule and your long-term plans all matter. We explain tradeoffs honestly and recommend what fits, even when it is not the largest project.
A site visit makes the choice clearer.
Choose concrete for design freedom, fiberglass for speed and simplicity and vinyl only when budget is the main concern.
