Why heat the pool
Without heat, a pool is comfortable for a few months. With heat and a cover, many owners swim from spring into autumn, and a heated spa makes winter evenings pleasant.
Heating changes how often you use the pool.
Heat pumps
Heat pumps move heat from the air into the water. They use little power for the heat they produce and suit steady use. They work well in mild weather and slow down in deep cold.
They are quiet and long lasting.
Gas heaters
Gas heaters burn natural gas or propane and heat quickly in any weather. They suit spas and occasional use. Running cost depends on fuel price.
They are compact and strong.
Solar and hybrid
Solar panels heat water with the sun at low running cost. Hybrid setups combine a heat pump with a gas heater for flexibility.
Space and sun exposure decide what works.
Covers and wind
Most heat is lost at the surface. A cover can save a lot, and a wind break or planting reduces loss from moving air.
This is the simplest improvement available.
Schedules and controls
A schedule that heats the pool before you swim saves energy. Automation lets you set a temperature and start heating from your phone.
We show you how to set it up.
Pair the right heater with a cover and a schedule, because all three work together.
